Indian Dreams Header Image - Creative Textiles

Gallery
Some pieces are almost 100% re-used textiles.Others combine sustainable, biodegradable material such as wool. Working with waste has required me to devise new ways of using traditional techniques (feltmaking, prodding, hooking, chaining, crochet etc.) and makes for a  challenging design approach.

I take inspiration from the materials available rather than starting with design and selecting materials.
Using waste requires time consuming preparation, washing and cutting before starting work on a design. A medium sized hanging can take up to twenty garments. Most work is hand washable with care.

I am also creating a variety of experimental textile sculptures in the grounds of Rydal Hall.
